Pre-Round Golf Warm Up

This post was inspired by Dr. Nate Angus, a friend and colleague of mine who has been generous enough to share his pre-round golf warm up.

Golf is a great sport that many people are able to continue playing long after retirement. However, many golfers are constantly dealing with aches, pains, and injuries. I see a lot of golfers in my clinics for back pain, hip pain, shoulder pain, and occasionally wrist pain.

The golf swing is an intricate motion that requires a lot of joint mobility, particularly through the hip joints and thoracic spine (mid-back). Perhaps one of the best ways to reduce your injury risk and improve your performance is by doing a proper pre-round golf warm up.

Hitting the range is a great way to warm up but dedicating time to warming up specific joints of the body prior to swinging is a healthy habit to develop. Dr. Nate Angus has created a PDF Ebook specifically to teach golfers a pre-round golf warm up routine.

Dr. Nate Angus is a physical therapist and founder of Taurus Rehabilitation and Wellness, LLC in Clarksville, TN. He received his B.S from Austin Peay State University and his DPT from Armstrong Atlantic State University. Dr. Angus has treated a variety of patients with varying problems, from high school and collegiate athletes wanting to return to sport, special operators with the military helping them regain top performance to complete their missions, to older adults wanting to return to their social and family lives without being limited by pain. Golf, however, has been Nate’s passion due to requisite combination of mobility, strength, power, and pure athletic talent. In addition to the biomechanical and fitness aspects of the sport, Dr. Angus’s drive is to help golfers play the game to the best of their ability to enjoy the camaraderie and excitement the game has to offer.
